AppConsult — appconsult.net

AppConsult operates a marketplace connecting clients with independent professionals in South Africa and the United Kingdom. By using the service you agree to these terms; you should also read our privacy notice.

Fees

There is no monthly subscription. For bookings paid through our checkout, AppConsult charges a 9.4% platform fee on the transaction. Off-platform arrangements between you and a professional are outside this fee. Card processing costs may apply separately as shown at checkout (Paystack in South Africa, Stripe in the UK).

Reward points

Clients can earn points only on completed bookings that were paid through AppConsult checkout (card). Walk-in or off-platform payments do not earn points. Points are calculated as 1% of the booking total(for example, a R1 000 booking yields 10 points). We treat 1 point as equivalent to R1 or £1 in redemption value when redemption is offered. Points are granted when the professional marks the appointment complete; they expire 6 months after being credited if not redeemed.

Rescheduling

Either the client or the professional may reschedule a confirmed booking to another available slot from the same automated schedule (weekdays, typical business hours). The other party receives email (when Resend is configured), SMS (when Twilio and phone numbers are on file), and an in-app notification. A new ~24h reminder is scheduled from the updated time.

Cancellations & refunds

Unless a professional publishes a stricter policy on their profile, the default policy is:

  • Cancel more than 24 hours before the start time: 100% refund of the online payment.
  • Cancel less than 24 hours before the start time: 70% refund.
  • Marked as a client no-show: no refund to the client.

Refunds are processed to the original payment method where technically possible. Payouts to professionals for completed online-paid work are initiated when the professional marks the appointment complete in the dashboard, subject to Paystack or Stripe availability as applicable to your region.

Disputes, no-shows & support

If a professional does not attend a confirmed session or you believe a refund is owed outside the automatic cancellation windows, contact support by email. For an MVP, a dedicated ticket inbox is enough: keep threads on one address, log the booking ID, and escalate chargebacks or Stripe/Paystack disputes according to your payment provider's process. A full in-app ticketing system can be added later if volume grows.

Payouts (Paystack & Stripe)

Professionals in South Africa receive payouts through Paystack transfer to a bank account they register. Professionals in the United Kingdomreceive payouts through Stripe Connect Express. You agree to the relevant provider's terms when onboarding. AppConsult does not provide regulated financial advice; professionals remain responsible for their own licences and professional obligations.

Regional notices

Users in the UK should note their rights under applicable consumer law and GDPR. Users in South Africa should note POPIA and the Consumer Protection Act where relevant. This MVP summary is not legal advice—have counsel review before public launch.
